1. Scope and summary
This Privacy Policy applies to the MaintTag app for iPhone and iPad and to this support and legal website. MaintTag is provided by Alex Omanski. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Alex Omanski.
MaintTag does not require a MaintTag account. The publisher does not operate an application backend that receives your maintenance records. The shipping app contains no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs and does not track you across apps or websites.
At a glance
- Records are stored on your device and, when available, in your private iCloud database.
- Camera access is used for QR scanning; broad photo-library access is not requested.
- StoreKit and the App Store process purchases.
- You can export or permanently delete app data from MaintTag Settings.
2. Information MaintTag handles
| Category | Examples and purpose |
|---|---|
| Workspace settings | Business name, currency, measurement units, warning defaults, appearance, and onboarding status. Used to configure the app and format records. |
| Equipment records | Equipment name, category, manufacturer, model, serial number, asset code, location label, notes, operating state, meter values, photos, QR identifier, and timestamps. Used to identify and manage equipment. |
| Maintenance records | Schedules, due dates, priorities, service history, provider name, parts and labor costs, downtime, notes, meter readings, and selected image attachments. Used to calculate status and maintain history. |
| Purchase state | App Store product identifiers, verified transaction status, current entitlements, expiration, and revocation state made available through StoreKit. Used to unlock MaintTag Pro. MaintTag does not receive your payment-card details. |
| Permissions and reminders | Camera and notification authorization status, local notification content, due dates, and internal record identifiers. Used to scan tags and schedule local reminders. |
| Diagnostics on device | Operational error descriptions may be written to Apple’s unified logging system with dynamic details marked private and masked. The app is designed not to log notes, serial numbers, asset codes, provider names, photos, exports, or receipts. |
3. Storage and processing
On your device
MaintTag uses SwiftData for persistent local storage. Selected images are resized and re-encoded as JPEG files before storage. If persistent storage cannot be opened, the app may enter a clearly labeled temporary session; information in that session can be lost when the app closes.
Private iCloud synchronization
When the configured iCloud container is available, SwiftData synchronizes records through the private CloudKit database associated with your Apple Account. Apple processes that content to provide iCloud. The publisher does not operate a separate server or public CloudKit database for these records. Synchronization is eventually consistent and can be unavailable or delayed.
Camera, QR codes, and photos
The camera feed is processed on the device to recognize QR codes and is not recorded by MaintTag. A scanned MaintTag identifier is used to find a local record; if a tag is unknown, it is stored only if you confirm creation of a new equipment record. The system Photos Picker gives the app access only to items you select.
Local notifications
If you allow notifications, MaintTag schedules maintenance reminders with iOS or iPadOS. Notification text can include an equipment name and schedule name. You can change notification access in system Settings and remove schedules in the app.
Exports
When you request an export, MaintTag writes the selected JSON, CSV, PDF, image, or ZIP data to a temporary app directory and presents Apple’s share interface. The app removes managed temporary exports during normal cleanup. Copies you save or share are controlled by the destination you choose and may remain there after deletion from MaintTag.
4. Services that receive information
- Apple iCloud and CloudKit
- Receives app records only when private iCloud synchronization is available and enabled for your device and Apple Account.
- Apple StoreKit and App Store
- Processes product discovery, purchases, subscriptions, restores, entitlement verification, billing, and refunds.
- Your chosen share destination
- Receives an export only when you initiate sharing and select a person, app, or storage provider.
- Cloudflare Pages
- Hosts this static website and may process IP address, request headers, security signals, and access logs needed to deliver and protect the site.
Each provider processes information under its own terms and privacy policy. MaintTag does not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it for targeted advertising.
5. This website
The website code does not include analytics, advertising, forms, or tracking pixels and does not set its own cookies. Cloudflare may use essential operational or security technologies depending on the publisher’s Cloudflare configuration. Following an external link sends your request to that destination under its own privacy practices.
6. Retention and deletion
- App records remain until you delete them, delete the workspace, or remove the app and applicable iCloud data.
- Private iCloud copies and deletion propagation are managed through Apple’s services and may not update immediately on every device.
- Local notifications remain until delivered, removed because a schedule changed, or cleared through the app or system settings.
- StoreKit transaction history is retained by Apple under Apple’s policies.
- Website security and delivery logs may be retained by Cloudflare and the publisher according to the final hosting configuration.
7. Your controls
- Access and portability: view records in MaintTag and use Settings → Export all data.
- Correction: edit equipment, schedules, service entries, and meter readings in the app.
- Deletion: delete individual records or use Settings → Danger zone → Delete all data.
- Permissions: control camera and notification access in iOS or iPadOS Settings.
- iCloud: manage iCloud access and stored app data through your Apple Account and device settings.
Because the publisher does not operate an account system or application backend, it generally cannot identify or retrieve your private app records for you.
8. Security
MaintTag relies on Apple platform protections, app sandboxing, private CloudKit scope, verified StoreKit transactions, and scoped system pickers. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Protect your device and Apple Account, review export recipients, and avoid putting unnecessary sensitive information in free-text fields.
9. Children’s privacy
MaintTag is a business and maintenance record tool and is not directed to children. The publisher does not knowingly collect children’s personal information through an application backend. A parent or guardian should supervise any use by a minor.
10. U.S. privacy disclosures
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. MaintTag does not offer financial incentives for personal information. App data access, correction, export, and deletion are available directly on the device. For a privacy question or applicable state-law request, email app@omanski.co.il. We may need enough information to understand and verify a request, but we generally cannot identify or retrieve records stored only on your device or in your private iCloud database.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in MaintTag, applicable services, or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date will identify the latest version. Material changes should be communicated through the app or another appropriate channel before they take effect.
